Winners of this year’s international Start Photography Awards exposed

Photographers from all over the earth have captured the wondrous, miraculous second of beginning – in all its uncooked and unglamorous glory – in a placing series of images.

This year’s winners of the annual Birth Photographer of the Year Awards are typically strong and breathtakingly intimate, documenting the agony and the ecstasy of childbirth in close depth. 

The worldwide contest, in collaboration with Atkins Lab, was established by award-successful delivery photographer Lacey Barratt as a way to even further legitimise the spectacular and intricate artwork of start photography.

Lacey, 34, from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, has been a passionate beginning photographer for 11 yrs and was one particular of fourteen knowledgeable judges to pick the winners of the awards.

Initial put was awarded to Laura Brink, from the Queensland, Australia, 2nd spot was offered to Rianna Cross, also from Queensland, Australia, and third spot was granted to Colby Tulachanh, from New York.

With 356 entries snapped by start photographers from all-around the planet – which includes Brazil, Portugal, France, Germany, Australia and New Zealand – mother-of-5 Lacey felt it was crucial to showcase the top photographs of the competition.

She claimed: ‘It was vital to host a levels of competition because there are so a lot of other outstanding competitions in the earth, but they are not particular to start photographers. So we generally get lumped in with documentary, photojournalism, and marriage documentary groups.

‘Judging and comparing a birth impression with a wedding picture are just two completely distinct finishes of the spectrum. To have a panel of judges qualified specially in delivery photography was paramount to the legitimacy of these types of a prestigious award.’

So we often get lumped in with documentary, photojournalism, and wedding documentary categories'
