It really is been five decades since Björk previous introduced an album, but now the Icelandic icon is again with a deeply ingenious set identified as Fossora. Every audio on the history feels as if it’s springing into the blend from a diverse path, as her lively voice shares space with all the things from bass clarinets to the voices of Björk’s personal offspring. Fossora was inspired, at minimum in part, by the loss of life of the singer’s mom, but joy also abounds.

We’ve also obtained the star-packed key-label debut of veteran rapper Freddie Gibbs, a reinvention for the very long-operating jazz team The Negative Plus, the return of U.K. pop star Craig David and a wild electro-pop document from Shygirl.

On this week’s New Audio Friday, NPR Music contributor Christina Lee, Radio Milwaukee’s Tarik Moody and Artimacy podcast host Keanna Faircloth be a part of visitor host Stephen Thompson.
